# Install Edge Copilot in Claude Code or Codex

Jordan Crawford's GTM advice, Corpus search and subscriber tools, inside Claude Code or Codex.
For On the Edge annual subscribers. The same subscription works in both apps
on your own computer. No separate Edge subscription or model API key is needed.

## Instructions for the assistant

When the user asks you to install Edge Copilot, carry out the installation.
Use the app you are running in; do not make the subscriber pick command flags.
Ask for their Substack subscriber email only if it is not already available.

1. Check the environment and required Python. Codex setup requires Python 3.9+, Node.js and the Codex CLI on macOS, Linux or WSL. Background models support stable Codex 0.162.x releases; doctor checks readiness. On Windows, run Codex and this installer inside WSL. Claude Code also supports Windows through Git Bash.
If a dependency is missing, explain it before installing extra software.
2. Download https://edge-copilot.blueprintgtm.com/install.sh to a temporary file
and inspect it. Run it with the email and the explicit host flag below.
Always quote user-supplied values as shell arguments.
3. Without a welcome license, the installer emails a one-time code. If it exits
because your tool has no interactive terminal, ask for that code, then rerun
the SAME command with --code followed by the code. It does not need to
request another code. Read email only if the user explicitly asks you to.
If a welcome key is already available, --license can use it instead.
Never print a license key, show config.json, or put credentials in a URL.
4. Use the default personal install unless the user requests a project install.
Preserve existing settings and the installation in the other app.
5. Check the installer's success result. In Codex, run the installed
scripts/codex.py doctor and verify using Python. In a fresh Codex session,
help the user review and trust the installed Edge hooks in /hooks; do not
silently trust them or disable hook review. Project installs also need
Codex's project trust. Check that doctor identifies their own Codex login. In Claude Code, follow the installer's checks
and restart Claude Code. Confirm success only after verification passes.
6. Invite the user to say: "Ask Edge how to improve my outbound campaign."
Also supported: $edge in Codex, /edge in Claude Code.

## Commands

After downloading the installer to a temporary file, run ONE of these
(replace INSTALLER_PATH and YOUR_SUBSCRIBER_EMAIL):

Codex:
    bash 'INSTALLER_PATH' 'YOUR_SUBSCRIBER_EMAIL' --codex

Claude Code:
    bash 'INSTALLER_PATH' 'YOUR_SUBSCRIBER_EMAIL' --claude

To complete email verification, add: --code 'YOUR_INSTALL_CODE'
To use an existing welcome license, add: --license 'YOUR_WELCOME_KEY'
For a project-only installation, add: --project '/absolute/project/path'

Inside Codex the shared installer can detect CODEX_THREAD_ID. Explicit flags
take priority and are the most reliable way to target the intended app.
Outside Codex, the command without a host flag keeps its Claude Code default.

## What works in both

Corpus search and source-backed GTM advice, feedback and contributions with
approval, announcements, and eligible tool and dataset downloads. Both use
the same subscriber account and Corpus. Individual downloaded tools can have
their own app requirements; check those before promising compatibility.

Advice, background hints and daily digests work in both apps. Codex shows notices in the conversation; Claude Code also uses its status line.
The same watcher, session capture, daily digest and update scripts run in both.
Codex background calls use the subscriber's own Codex ChatGPT login; Claude
uses their Claude login. Local session excerpts go to that model provider,
not Blueprint. Codex sends are confirmed in chat, not by an independent approval prompt. The assistant must show the text and ask first; Edge cannot independently verify that confirmation.
In accept-request mode, Codex blocks recognized sends without --approved and
supplies a preview. The assistant can supply --approved on its first attempt;
that flag does not prove user consent. Claude can show its native approval prompt.
The --with-hook, --with-watch, --with-digest and corresponding --no-* flags
work in either app. All are on by default. --uninstall-watch --codex removes
only Edge's Codex hooks. Confirm the selected scope before uninstalling.

## Help and reconnecting

Rerun the appropriate install command using the current subscriber email to
reconnect or repair an installation. A second computer may require an email
code. Do not work around 401/402/403 errors or repeatedly retry a 429; follow
the API's message. For help: jordan@blueprintgtm.com.
